It’s starting to sink in that this is really happening! From time to time I still remind myself that I don’t need to stress about waking up early for a daily commute.

So far the most pleasant surprise is the time with my kids. Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure how it would go. I think I’ve heard the phrase “Hey Mom” more times in these past 3 weeks than their entire time in elementary school. I’ve been able to nurture our relationship even more. These moments make me fully understand that there aren’t many years left they will be under my roof.

I was able to continue my tradition of lunch with a different person with my friend John. It was great to catch up. He and his wife have a beautiful cabin where our family has stayed a couple times. My kids still make comments about how much they enjoyed their time when we stayed there. Making memories. It is the essential part of life.

I’m starting to find my rhythm with writing. I wake up, write for an hour or two and then carry on with my day. I am normally a night owl, so this is a good test to see if I can rewire my brain a little bit. The hope is that I can write while the kids are in school. It has been hectic this summer! A good hectic nonetheless. I’m slowly finding how to create a routine for myself. The lack of routine and removal from my ‘community’ of people have been the most jarring to my system.

This week I had a fantastic opportunity to work on research that previously had been holding me back from getting any headway on my book. It’s feeling good and I’m excited to see where the journey will take me.

Until next week…

Peace. Love and Rock n Roll…
